Kennesaw State Turns the Page at Quarterback After a 10-Win Season

2026 Preseason Outlook

Ten wins is ten wins, but Kennesaw State enters the season having to answer its most pressing question with someone other than Amari Odom, who threw his way to a 99.7 PPA season before leaving for Syracuse. The new signal-caller — whoever wins that job — inherits an offense that also lost leading receiver Christian Moss to Washington and backup QB Dexter Williams II to Tulsa, leaving target share and quarterback continuity as the two biggest question marks on the roster. The portal churn was real: 19 departures worth 189.7 PPA out, 29 arrivals worth only 30.5 PPA in, with safety Cameron Miller from Memphis the headline addition alongside Syracuse transfer QB Rickie Collins and Tulsa wideout Zion Booker. The qualitative picture fits that turnover — an offense that grades out roughly average, a defense that grades below average after some coverage attrition, and special teams that rate as a clear weak spot. None of that is disqualifying, but it does mean the margin for error shrinks compared to last year's group.

JP+ pegs Kennesaw State at 6.9 projected wins against a market number set at 6.5, with the model actually leaning toward the over at 28% expected value. The schedule offers a path — road trips to Sam Houston line up as winnable, and home dates with Georgia State and West Georgia should be favorable — but true tests at Tennessee, Western Kentucky, and Arkansas State will say plenty about whether the new quarterback and a retooled receiving corps can hold up against quality competition. If the QB competition resolves cleanly and the defense's coverage questions get answered by December, this group pushes past its number and validates the over. If the target-share losses and offensive line questions linger, 6-6 or worse is a realistic outcome instead.
